The Monterey County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) is pleased to announce an opening for an Emergency Services Planner. We’re seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to join our high-performing team of emergency management and administrative staff dedicated to strengthening the County’s preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience capabilities.
 
This position plays a vital role in advancing countywide emergency management initiatives and supporting coordination with local, regional, and state partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong planning and organizational skills, experience and/or education in emergency management or public safety programs, and a deep commitment to serving the community.
 
Key responsibilities include:
  • Developing and maintaining emergency operations and hazard-specific plans
  • Supporting Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness, training, and exercises
  • Coordinating with partner agencies and stakeholders on preparedness and mitigation programs
  • Assisting with incident response and recovery efforts as part of the County’s emergency management team
