The Monterey County Department of Emergency Management (DEM) is pleased to announce an opening for an Emergency Services Planner. We’re seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to join our high-performing team of emergency management and administrative staff dedicated to strengthening the County’s preparedness, response, recovery, and resilience capabilities.
This position plays a vital role in advancing countywide emergency management initiatives and supporting coordination with local, regional, and state partners. The ideal candidate will bring strong planning and organizational skills, experience and/or education in emergency management or public safety programs, and a deep commitment to serving the community.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and maintaining emergency operations and hazard-specific plans
Supporting Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness, training, and exercises
Coordinating with partner agencies and stakeholders on preparedness and mitigation programs
Assisting with incident response and recovery efforts as part of the County’s emergency management team
